Hello, I'm Laryssa!

I fell in love with ceramics in 2018 after taking my very first Ceramics 101 class at Meredith College with my best friend Eleanor. I had always loved exploring different art mediums, but I often felt like I wasn’t “good” at art because I couldn’t "stay within" the lines. When I first worked with clay, I finally found my place, an art form where the lines are meant to be pushed, reshaped, and reimagined.

My journey began with hand-building, which became my foundation for many years, especially since wheel throwing initially felt intimidating and challenging. In 2024, I felt a pull to push myself creatively, which led me back to the wheel. Through practice, patience, and curiosity, I began learning to understand and enjoy the process.

Today, I’ve fallen in love not only with wheel throwing, but with sharing the joy of ceramics with others. I now teach at The Little Studio in Charlotte NC and at community events throughout the Charlotte area, where I love helping people connect with clay and discover their own creative voice!!
